Hawaii in winter

Patience is a virtue. And a money-saver. I have been watching this fabric on eBay since March. I believe I first saw it while we were on our Russian River cabin jaunt. It’s not often I find 4 full yards of vintage fabric, uncut and in this good of shape. So it wasn’t totally surprising that it was going for about $75. Not surprising, but certainly too rich for my blood. Ten bucks a yard is living it up high-style for me.

But I had it on my watched items and I’d check in on it now and then. It was on one of those ever-renewing Buy-It-Now cycles and every now and then it would come up as on sale. But never a very substantial sale. It might go down to $68 or something. I don’t begrudge the seller, but that was still so far above what I was willing to pay.

Well, time passed and I forgot about it. We even bought a house in the time this thing has been on my watch list (maybe that’s a little ironic as the house was quite a bit more expensive than 4 yards of vintage fabric). And frankly, after buying the house I’ve spent a great deal less time on eBay and more time at hardware stores. But on a whim of post-holiday boredom today, I checked in on my eBay list and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but this fabric on sale for nearly half off. $42 for 4 yards is a pretty much right in my acceptable range of fancy-times fabric. I’d be a fool to pass this up, right?

Since I’m not a fool (debatable), I’m now the proud owner of 4 yards of pristine, vintage Hawaiian fabric! Now I just need the balls to cut into it.
